Coolers are allowed in the picnic area only and must enter through the Picnic Gate. Beer and wine only, no hard alcohol. The picnic area is home to comfortable, outdoor seating for the whole family.

In the Grandstand, shirts must be worn at all times. In the Clubhouse, proper attire is required: no swim wear, sweats, tank tops or abbreviated wear.

New Jersey State Laws:

State law prohibits the consumption of alcohol by anyone under the age of 21 including BYO areas. You must be 18 years of age to wager. Children are welcome on the grounds. No smoking inside of the buildings.

Does Monmouth Park run in the rain? ›

The races run rain or shine. The only exception is in the unusual case that the track conditions are unsafe for the horses and riders. In that event, the closure will be posted to our website.

The New Jersey Sports and Exposition Authority purchased Monmouth Park in 1986 and many of the historic, century-old stakes races were reinstated, with the Monmouth Cup, inaugurated in 1884, renamed the Philip H. Iselin Handicap.

On June 19, 1946, the Monmouth Park Jockey Club, a thoroughbred horse racing stadium now known as Monmouth Park Racetrack, opened its gates with 18,724 in attendance. This is the third Monmouth Park horse racing facility on this site in Oceanport, with the first operating from 1870-1894.
