✨ Why you should talk about Taylor Swift in your next interview (using the PESTLE analysis) ✨I was lucky enough to watch 3.5 hours of Taylor Swift (and Travis Kelce) singing and dancing around Wembley on Sunday evening - and I was in awe!!As a lawyer and Swiftie, I couldn't help thinking about her achievements as a businesswoman. So, I broke it down for you using the PESTLE analysis...Are you ready for it?? 😅🌏 POLITICAL 🌏 Forget the Kanye VMAs/Kim K feud, Swift has caused Bad Blood between Singapore and its neighbours, Thailand and the Philippines. Swift performed exclusively in Singapore this spring, thanks to generous grants from the Singapore government (it’s claimed £1.6m-2.4m per show), which a Filipino lawmaker labelled as not a ‘neighbourly’ thing to do. 💰 ECONOMIC 💰Fans are so Enchanted they will travel from far and wide to see Swift perform, sometimes multiple times, which is boosting local economies and national GDPs. Fans spend money on tickets & merchandise, plus hospitality, dining, and retail. Singapore reported 2.7% year-on-year growth for Q1 2024, thanks to Swift's 6 exclusive concerts.🏈 SOCIAL 🏈Swift's songs aren't afraid to call out the extra scrutiny she receives as a woman in music, her love life and her "good name". She uses her celebrity to highlight LGBTQ+ rights and voter registration. Her relationship with Travis Kelce, the Kansas City Chiefs tight end, has introduced the NFL and American football to a new audience - reportedly boosting the brand value of the NFL and the Chiefs by £260m.📱 TECHNOLOGICAL 📱Swift is The Man: striking a deal with TikTok to make her music available on the app, even when her parent label Universal Music pulled its music earlier this year. On the flip side, Swift previously withheld her music from Apple and Spotify's free-to-use versions of their music streaming platform because of a row over royalties.⚖️ LEGAL ⚖️Swift is an (Anti-)Hero and lawmaker! Swifties have sued Ticketmaster for intentional deception, fraud, price fixing and anti-trust/competition after the controversy surrounding US ticket sales. The increased public scrutiny has led to the US government filing an antitrust lawsuit against Live Nation-Ticketmaster and the FTC banning hidden fees on ticket websites. ✈️ ECOLOGICAL ✈️Apart from her frequent use of private jets (ahem), the Eras Tour has caused fans to Shake It Off! so much that seismic activity was recorded in Scotland and Seattle! What happened to the Data Protection and Digital Information Bill? And what happens after the UK general election?⚰ After Parliament was dissolved at the end of May, the DPDI Bill failed and can't be carried over to the new Parliament (even if the Conservatives are re-elected).✂ The DPDI Bill was touted as an opportunity to cut red tape and paperwork for UK businesses but could have the opposite effect by forcing them to subject to both the UK DPDI and EU GDPR.📚 Last week, the Conservative and Labour parties published their manifestos with both focusing on online safety, AI and innovation (but no specific mention of the DPDI Bill).Read more at #TeamSPB's Privacy World blog, written by myself and David Naylor: https://lnkd.in/erqiDBnf#generalelection #dataprotection #legal

What does it mean to be a British-Chinese adoptee? 🇨🇳 Has your identity & relationship with adoption changed over time? 🧶When do you tell people you're adopted?I really enjoyed moderating the Adoptee Q&A panel at the CACH-ALL Reunion 2024 with four adoptees from different backgrounds, life stages and ages. I also was able to attend talks by Annalisa Toccara-Jones MCIPR ACIM on navigating microaggressions and Jan Way MBE about tackling transitions in life. Feel very grateful to be part of the intervountry adoptee community.
