This AP is pretty weak… in the first book the players get to attend a “Gala” where they socialize with woodland inhabitants and play games… careful! You’re about to trade verbal insults with a nonbinary flytrap leshy. Those words can sting! The whole feel of the adventure just doesn’t do it for me. Unfortunately I bought the pdf and the Foundry VTT module so that was money down the drain as I won’t be running this AP for anyone.

Seriously? The gripe you have is the start of Pactbreaker focuses on a big social event which has the primary purpose of introducing the PCs to the major NPCs and the central AP plot elements?

I'm sorry it doesn't suit your tastes, but to call the AP "weak" is confusing your preferences with quality. You might as well tell people that chocolate or coffee is horrible because you don't like it.

It’s called an opinion. We all get to have one. That’s why I said it doesn’t do it for “me”.

And what does that mean? Are you keeping careful track of my posts?

Nah, it’s easy to click on your profile and see them all in order when you come back around.

Hey, you should write a review if you haven’t already. That’ll get noticed by the staff a lot easier!

In your opinion, what would be a better start? The cliche beginning would be to put a tavern next to the Wildwood Lodge and have all the PCs hired by a mysterious stranger (TV Tropes reference).

I have not yet purchased Wardens of Wildwood, because my players and I can't fit it into our playing schedule until we finish our current main campaign. But I have six leshy PCs who finished A Fistful of Flowers, A Few Flowers More, and two sequel missions at 5th level, and it would be fun to send them to the Moot of Ages. I would need an excuse why six minor heroes of a small community in the Verduran Forest were invited to an international political gathering. As Dragonchess Player pointed out, for the intrigue side of the adventure I would need an opportunity to introduce them to the diplomats and their issues before we have to roll for initiative and draw swords. A gala is a workable start.

Paizo has been very good about setting up flavorful beginnings to their adventure paths. Their first adventure path Rise of the Runelords began not in a tavern nor a jail cell, but at a cheerful town festival that turned dangerous when goblins raided. An adventure path needs to bond the party together so that they stay together for all six modules, and a good beginning can provide that bond. Paizo is writing shorter adventure paths these days, but we still need the glue.

Hmm. I wonder if there could be something deeper here about why it doesn't work for them. Ah well.

Also, why are you buying the Foundry module if you haven't bothered to read the AP itself? That's just asking to waste money. Especially if something like a nonbinary Flytrap Leshy is gonna set you off, you might want to be more prudent with your purchasing decisions.
